It’s a wrap! We are all done with classes for the year at Vila Andrade, ending with a Christmas party and the graduation ceremony. I was asked a number of times if I would be continuing there and a few parents asked how they could get their students involved in English, which was encouraging. I spoke to the student and parents (in portuguese) about the value of learning a foreign language and encouraged the students to continue pursing this dream, since both the World Cup and Olympics are coming to Brazil in 2014 and 2016 respectively, and there will be many jobs available for those who can speak English.
Christmas Party Fun!
The kids made three Christmas crafts - a snowman, an angel and a tree - and decorated a Christmas cookie with frosting and goodies.
2010 Graduation
My students, including the new classes of younger students, sang the ‘Alphabet song’ and I had one girl read a book, one boy do math exercises (saying numbers in English) and three students said their favorites (color, food, subject, etc).
